Jacques Bacot

Jacques Bacot (1877-1965) developed a passion for Tibet during a trip around the world which he made in 1904 and then on an expedition to this country in 1906. Recognized specialist of Tibet, he was appointed director of Tibetan studies at École Pratique des Hautes Études in 1936, and became a member of Académie des inscriptions et belles-lettres in 1947.
