Musique et épopée en Haute-Asie pays tribute to the richness and diversity of the pioneering work of Mireille Helffer that spans more than half a century. A passionate musician and ethnomusicologist, she traveled to Nepal in the late 1960s, then to India and Tibet. She has inspired many generations of researchers in the West and in Asia. The book brings together contributions from researchers of her generation, but also from younger researchers who knew or did not know Mireille Helffer and were influenced by her work or benefited from the knowledge she provided.

Katia Buffetrille is an ethnologist and tibetologist, researcher at the École Pratique des Hautes Études and affiliated with the Center for Research on East Asian Civilizations (CRCAO).
Isabelle Henrion-Dourcy, ethnologist, theater and Tibetan media specialist, is a professor in the Department of Anthropology at Laval University, Quebec.
